Yesterday was... interesting.

At work, they've moved me into the rotation for news and pages, which means that I'm responsible for them on alternating days. Yesterday was news, day before was pages, ect.

I didn't realize until it was about my lunchtime that the entire reason it was so busy in the office was because KG called in sick again. It would be really nice to have reliable coworkers. :p

I managed pretty okay, and had a fairly decent day despite all the crap work was throwing at me. I finished rough sketches for a userpic commission for was1, and started sketching out a new set for myself.

(If anyone is interested, I offer Livejournal packages for userpictures. Email me for the details!)

My current art project is to put together a portfolio of sorts, work on my B&W skills, throw it all together on a webpage, and send it to Sofawolf to see if I can sell some illustrations. A couple of friends have said I'd probably do really well, and it would be good exposure.

I am to begin working on AFA's website, which I'm really excited about, too. Phew. Lots of creative work.

I also need to work on my own website. I think we have php and sql installed on our servers now (Roho?), so I just need to find out how to access them now that we're using BSD rather than linux. I think the backend of the site should probably be easier to set up now, since we're using MySql, and there are tons of packages and tutorials out there that will do what I want.

I have a bunch of sketches and doodles I need to scan.. some of which are mine, a good bit of which were done by other people as gifts for us. I'm sure the original artists would love to get copies for themselves.

Annnnd.. in other news, still job hunting, since this one sucks. Unfortunately, there just doesn't seem to be much out there. I've had 135 views of my resume since November, and only garnered a handful of interviews. I'm not very hopeful at getting out of here soon. However, sucky as it is, working here is better than sitting at home, so.. here I am. :p

I'm hoping to get some extra cash by selling art, and will be posting some print auctions this weekend. I've finished my major commission, so I'll probably auction off a couple of full page commissions, and try and garner up some business for livejournal-based stuff as well.

I'm thinking that I need to sit down and learn how to do CSS pages and brush up my html skills, then I can offer a full customization of Livejournals. That would be kinda neat, but I think it's an idea that will have to wait a little bit. I have a lot on my plate as it is, and I'd have to do something with mine first to use it as an example.

I am looking forward to when the economy gets better, though. A friend mentioned that in a meeting yesterday, their company stated that there was a hold on all raises until October (they usually process reviews and raises in April, I think). This pretty much shoots down any hopes of me getting a raise, since if a large company like that is feeling things, I know a struggling loser like ARC is gonna be hurting that much worse.

I am strangely okay with the way things are going, however. I was looking at my budget this morning and trying to plot out how the next few months will go, and.. as long as I don't go crazy with spending, I should be pretty okay. I was a bit disturbed when I looked at my final check stub for the year.. with my hourly salary, I should have made 7k more this year. In looking back at all my old check stubs, I'm wondering if this was a typo in the YTD. I guess I'll find out when I get my tax packets. I was searching through all the old stubs, when I realized that I had no idea if the amounts I was paid was accurate or not, since I didn't remember if I missed a day that week, or was off for something that week. So one of my resolutions this year is to keep close track of how much time I take off from work, and to make up for it as much as possible.

And now, work is giving me a cranky headache, so closing.

EDIT: Fixed the AFA link. Thanks frysco!

Do you do commissions? I'd love a B&W picture of two characters together. One is black furred, the other is white furred. Nothing fancy or smutty; just sitting together. How much would something like that be and how busy are you?

I certainly do! :)

My standard rate for two characters is $30. My commission rates are flexible, but I prefer not to go below that.

Standard commission spiel-

Art is done on smooth bristol paper. Buyer receives original art (matting optional) as well as all concept sketches and drafts. I do add $4 to the price of the commission to cover priority shipping within the US.

My turnaround time varies; as anyone that reads the journal knows, my life can be a circus sometimes. ;) I do give regular updates, though. (And honestly, with a black and white piece, it shouldn't take too long. The longest process is the colouring. :p )

I accept paypal, money order and personal check, and do request the full price up front before beginning work. If the purchaser is unhappy with the completed work (keeping in mind that all drafts are sent to the buyer for approval), I will refund 50% of the price and keep the art.

Paypal information is kestral@fennecfox.net, you can email the same address with any further questions, descriptions of what you'd like, or to get my mailing address. :)

I try to treat my buyers well, as I love repeat customers. ;)

Yay! It sounds like it could be a really fun piece. :)

I kept wanting to do something similar of Kes and this other cheetah I met on FurryMuck... white and black together. :>

Ahem. Okay. I'm better now. ;)
