Help Needed!

We are going to a Geeky Halloween party this year, and roho is already picking out his costume which leaves me going, 'uh.. shit.'

I have not dressed up for Halloween, um.. EVER, and a quick surf through costume shops that carry my size (yay fat butt) showed... stuff that looks great on skinny chicks but not so much on larger women, and stuff that would be okay, but looks cheaply made and has triple digit prices.

I do not currently have a working sewing machine, I do have a black underbust bodice and peasant shirt, so worst case I can buy a nice scarf and wrap it around my waist, wear the bodice and shirt with a skirt, but I'd like to avoid the renfaire look if at all possible, or at least put a little more effort into it.

SO! Friends! Loved ones! Suggestions? Most of you know what I look like irl.

We have equipment you may borrow (and likely some extra fabrics and other bits) if you'd like. Hell, I suspect J wouldn't mind (I'll be sure to ask, natch) if you'd wanted to do the work here. :)

I come bearing whoopie pies.

I was pointed to some other resources, I'm going to look around this week and see what I can find, although you -do- have more space for working, even with the newest addition. :D

So we can talk! Thank you! :) Bren may need some assistance with his plans too, we'll plot. <3

Finding an outfit that combines well with Roho's in one way or another makes for even more fun. If he's a cop, you go in convict stripes. If he's a rich banker, you go as a pauper. If he's a dragon, you put on the renfaire garb and go as his maiden. Fun for everyone!

I think he's planning on going as the Scout from Team Fortress 2; a game I don't play or have any knowledge about. :)

He wanted to go as Gordon Freeman from Half Life; that'll probably be next year's costume, gives us time to build it. :)

The Heavy, IMO!

No, that's not a crack about weight, the class is named that! The guy is hilariously goofy and I've never played the game. You need a red shirt, a brown-gray pullover vest, gray pants, then you can improvise an ammo belt with a bunch of toilet paper rolls on a strap of some kind, put twists of orange construction paper in the tips of the rolls to make 'em bullets, and finally get a big Nerf(tm) gun.

... I am intrigued! I will look at this more when I get home! :D

Also for comparison, The Scout's movie!

The Heavy 'guest-stars' in it too.

I REALLY want to do a wow-themed costume, but I don't think I can swing it for this year. So it'll be my project for next year. :D

I don't know if you have any thrift or resale shops where your at now but there are always creative possibilities in those. One year I wore a long black gothy looking shirt with black dress pants and found black wings and a black halo and went as a dark angel. One of my friend liked it so much that he bought the wings and halo from me. I HATE those cheap Halloween costumes. They are so horrible and only fit people who are Size 0.
