Life Updates

I suppose I should update. Neither of us has had a tremendous amount of time for blogging lately, so apologies that we've been quiet!

We're moving to Boston. Well, roho is already in Boston, and is moving into our new digs today, I will be following, if all goes as planned, around the end of the month. He has a new job with a new company in a completely different industry, and we're very excited.

Today, a some very wonderful local friends are descending on our Illinois place and making furniture and other things disappear, and I cannot express my gratitude enough. You guys are wonderful!

I never realized how much it would suck having to stay by myself for a month, pack up a house and get it ready to sell. I really hope we never have to do this again.

In other news, while cleaning out the china hutch so it can go to its new home, I found a full bottle of cacacha. Caprinhas, here I come! :9

Glad to hear about good things. Good luck for a smooth move!

If you find yourself near Binghamton, or if you're passing through Syracuse with a bit of time to kill, feel free to look us up.

funny you should say that, I'm thinking of trying to hit Binghamton in the first day.

Unfortunately... I probably won't be able to stop. I'll have 2 pissed off cats and an elderly dog in the car, and will likely want to commit homicide by the time I stop. :(

Binghamton from Chicago is a big stretch when moving... The two trips I made from Rockford when I moved in '03, I couldn't get past Cleveland without stopping for the night. From here, Boston is a scant 5 hours away.

Were you planning to take I-90 to I-86 and then cut up I-88 to get to Albany and re-join I-90 at the Mass Pike extension?

I'm honestly not sure yet. I'll look at the route when I get closer in to the drive dates; I want to keep an eye on the weather.

I may end up having to make it a 3 day drive, I'm not sure. -.-

Unless there's heavy lake effect snow in the Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse area, I'd say you're better off following the Thruway (I-90) straight through and avoiding the Binghamton route.

Last I checked, New York state has closed most of its rest areas not on the Thruway so there are long, long stretches with no services on I-86/I-88. (The Thruway has regularly-spaced service facilities akin to those on the Indiana Toll Road.)
