This week will forever be known as the week that will not end.

For me at least.

Normally, I try not to do a lot of kvetching about work. A job’s a job. You do it, you get paid, you may not like it, but the bills won’t go away without some effort. My father attempted to instill in me a good work ethic when I was young.. and while I think we both despaired in my ever learning the lessons he was trying to teach, it would seem that some of it has managed to sink in.

At least, that’s the only reason I can think of to explain why I’m at work today instead of lounging at home on the couch. I had quite the relaxing morning…. Got a few cute sketches down on paper, watched a bit of diehard, and managed to keep my snacking to healthy bits of food rather than getting into the icecream or stopping on the way to work for a huge calorie laden soda.

I need to get myself in gear on exercising. I don’t do enough of it. I’ve been following the exercises listed as part of the Hacker’s Diet, but… well… let’s just say that when you weigh as much as I do, some of the exercises listed are, while not uncomfortable, difficult to do properly. I think I’m going to go ahead and start getting up when Brendan does, and go walk before I have my breakfast. The complex is a large one, and at 7:30am, there generally aren’t many folks about. I just need to see if I can afford a decent pair of shoes. The only pair of tennis shoes I have are too small. (I sound like a stereotypical woman here…looking for excuses to buy shoes. Eek. )

SO! My current shopping list includes some more socks, more undies, (can never have too many of those two), a pair of running shoes… I want to get 5 pairs of slacks so I can stop wearing black jeans to work… and more shirts that I can either wear alone, or mix with something else. I’m slowly building up a wardrobe of business-casual attire that (I think) looks fairly spiffy, can be worn with blue jeans or slacks, and that looks nice on my figure. Because that, ladies and gentlemen, is the kicker. It’s all well and good to go through a catalog and pick out clothing in a certain size, but… when you have curves the model doesn’t, you can run into some serious issues.

I’m definitely looking forward to being able to shop at wal-mart again, rather than going to the more expensive stores that specialize in plus-sized clothing. Although, it’s honestly been so long since I bought clothes, I’m not really up to speed on competitive pricing. $16 for a little tank top does seem a bit much though. :P

Work today actually doesn’t seem that bad, despite the fact that the system had problems yet again this morning. We’re still waiting 5 minutes and more for queues to open, but my boss seems to have come to the realization that I can’t do the pages alone and has someone helping me. Yay!

We have a new client… or rather, our major client has a new client, that has very specific instructions on how their repair calls must be run. It’s become a royal pain in the tookas because we have to page the technician that’s running the ticket to be sure he complies with the client’s instructions. The particularly picky client, who I shall call AG, is of the type of business that their locations generally have all sorts of technology that make getting cell calls through…..rather difficult, if not impossible.

Makes for a fun day.

I do want to take a moment to apologize for the long rambly entries of late. When I have spare time at work, it’s safer to go ahead and write an entry in word, then paste it over, rather than surf the web or something similar, since my employers, I feel, are watching me.

It frightens me a little that my boss just took myself and CH off of what we were doing (maintaining paged calls and assigning the new reactives) to work on tomorrow’s dispatches. At a guess, I’d say she’s afraid we’re going to generate more overtime. I’m not sure if she wants us on the phones or not… I’m hoping not, since trying to get into folks’ queues slows things down further. (Currently, I’ve been waiting 6 minutes for this one to load, taking the occasional call while I wait.)

In other news, I did finally hear back from Michael’s lawyer. He said he had received my notarized letter, and that the divorce should be final sometime next week, and that he’ll keep me posted. Right. Like I haven’t heard that before. So once again, I’m in a holding pattern on that issue.

Ooh.. a friend has just given me a very rough draft of a story she wrote. I think I may entertain myself reading that for a while….
