"The more one does and sees and feels, the more one is able to do, and the more genuine may be one's appreciation of fundamental things like home, and love, and understanding companionship." - Amelia Earhart
Whew! New art is up, including some older stuff that never got posted to my FA account. I just counted, I've completed 5 paintings in July, a new record for me. I have a couple of large paintings on my horizon, hopefully I can keep squeezing smaller ones out. I'm loving this productivity, and I'll be honest. It's the feedback of all of you that keep me going. I love hearing that 'oooh, so pretty!', so I crank out another one. Thank you for everyone that looks, and thank you for everyone that comments!
Also, with all the posts recently about art sales, and tips about self-marketing, there's a magazine article I want to post that I found very useful. But it's long enough (and I have to type it up) that I will make it a separate post.
I have to mail out "Lazy Afternoon" to her new home today, and I'm gathering references for one of the other smaller commissions. I have a vague idea of what I want to do, I just need to sit down and start sketching it out.
We leave for vacation today, which has me excited. I can't post details about what we're doing or where we're going -- yet -- because it's a surprise for linnaeus. It's going to be a lot of fun! We won't have internet access, so I won't post again until Tuesday, but I daresay I'll have lots of things to share when we get back.
Ithaca Fine Chocolates are doing something I think is all sorts of awesome. From their own words, "Ithaca Fine Chocolates aims to support art education programs and promote practicing visual artists working in non-functional media. Artworks featured in Art Bars are chosen annually by a panel of artists, art historians, and museum professionals." If you're an artist that's looking for a bit of exposure (and something neat to put on your resumé!), check out the inquiring artist page. (Link courtesy of haikujaguar)
Jill and Kevin's Big Day video - This is a video of someone's wedding processional, and I would normally not be interested in watching this (because honestly...when you don't know someone, why watch their wedding?), but... I think weddings have become so wrapped up in the hype and the tulle and we've all forgotten that at its core, it's the celebration of two lives joining together. This couple did something that was memorable, special, and in my opinion, very cool.
Have a great day everyone!
