I've been having a blast peering through www.orkut.com, a new community/networking/personals database doohickey done by Google. I'm rather intrigued and interested to see if the communities in particular become popular, as the service seems to be a fairly nice (and fun) source of information and social interaction.

We shall see. :)

Hmmm, could be an interesting concept. I find it interesting that you have to be invited in, which could be both good and bad. The communities of trusted friends sounds like a good idea though. I wonder if it'll take off?

It seemed to work for LiveJournal, though one could argue the target audience is slightly different. :)

This morning I came across an article in Wired about social nets such as Friendster, and Orkut gets a token mention. It's WIRED, so take it with a grain of salt. http://www.wired.com/news/culture/0,1284,62070,00.html

There seem to be a bunch of these social networking things popping up. Interesting that Google is getting in on it.

I need to ask a friend to invite me to join, but I figured I'd ask you instead. *ducks and runs*
