Just a quick note to say I'm still alive. Been busy with helping panthers move and work.. looking forward to getting a weekend where I do nothing more strenuous than cuddle with a fennec.

Work is.. well.. work. Today is payday. I have $550 in savings towards our eventual home purchase. Small start, but it is a start.

Blee. :)

Put that home savings into something like an INGDirect "Orange" savings account. Its "just inconvenient enough" to withdraw from it to keep you from tipping the till during those moments of weakness. :) I can send you an account referral that gives you a $10 bonus if you wish. :)

Its also FDIC insured, and earns a 2.0% compounded APR. Just can't beat that with any conservative, insured investment right now.

Once that doubles, put it into a 1 year CD that allows contributions during the term. Once that doubles, plop it into a stock mutual fund of your choice (and risk tolerance level).

Why am I saying this? I don't know.. perhaps its the old banker in me, but something about saving for the DP on a house really excites me. :)

I've been putting all of my housefund monies in a NetBank money market account. Far away, no temptation to quickly transfer a few hundred into my main account, and a 2.0% APR. Much better than the 0.5% savings account I have with my local bank. :P

I'll look into it. :)

The only thing is, we're planning on purchasing this year- as our lease expires in September. So a year won't work terribly well. ;)
