I think it's a pretty good statement on my place in the world when the Yerf administrators contact me to tell me I'm behind on reviewing.... when I was never a reviewer to begin with.

I know it's childish and petty, but I can't help but be a bit irritated and annoyed that the person using the name 'Kestrel' is a phenominal artist and has quite a large fan base. It irks me because I've been using the name for nearly 10 years now, and I feel a bit like I've been usurped. I'm tired enough of getting missed messages that I've been considering changing my online alias- although, as I said, I've been using it for nearly a decade, and it would be difficult.

(I am quite grumpy this morning, as the cats conspired to keep both Roho and myself wakeful for most of the night. They are now going to be turned into slippers and nourishing broth.)

[They are now going to be turned into slippers and nourishing broth.]

Between the three of them that'll be an... interesting broth.

I call dibs on the Ra slippers!

Write them back and tell them to go look up "kestrel" in the dictionary. :p And then type in your name. I guarantee they won't find it. A kestrel is a small bird of prey and is actually the smallest member of the falcon family (Falconidae). A kestral? Dunno. Other than 'a cat'.

Sheesh, some people. :p

And while I don't get a lot of mistaken-identity emails or anything, I've got people friending me who only write in Russian (wtf? I can't read it) and Mira (yes, my car exists on FurryMUCK) keeps getting pagemail from people I don't even know. Why do they keep thinking that a VW Golf is their friend? I don't get it.

My name is a typo of Kestrel. (My father is a birder, I liked the bird, I liked the name, I just forgot how to spell it, then decided to keep the misspelling)

And that's not really the point. I guess I'm irked because people assume that since her name is "correctly" spelled, or perhaps it's because she is the better artist, therefore more widely known, that she is the original, and I am someone trying to imitate.

People that know me know better, of course, but.. it's still aggravating.

I agree, that is silly. Just point out to them that common words sometimes get re-used and that's what happened this time, that you're two different people, and that's that.

I think your misspelling is one of the common ones for kestrels...
